Goals

The Pathways to Higher Education program at Stella Maris College provided educational opportunities to underprivileged students. To achieve this mission, the Pathways program at Stella Maris College focused on improving or developing:

• English communications and computer skills
• Employability skills through counseling and career guidance
• Entrepreneurship skills

Target Population
Stella Maris College’s Pathways program reached out to underprivileged and rural women as well as visually challenged students.

Outcomes

• Improved students’ job prospects by providing career guidance and training sessions.  From the first group of Pathways students, 45 went on to work for high level companies.
• Improved students’ computer skills through summer training sessions
• Improved spoken English and communication skills through training sessions
• Enabled an easy transition from secondary school to college through a Pathways orientation
