Goals

The Pathways to Higher Education program at Patna Women’s College seeks to improve opportunities for students from socially and economically disadvantaged regions. To achieve this mission, the Pathways program at Patna Women’s College is focusing on improving or developing:

  • Career preparation programs
  • Courses that build English communications and computer skills
  • Self-employment skills

Target Population
The College’s Pathways program targeted students from socially and economically advantaged backgrounds.

Outcomes
Between 2004-2009, the Pathways program:

  • Improved career prospects for Pathways students, with several moving on to companies like IBM
  • Increased the English communications skills of 107 Pathways students through a certificate program
  • Increased the computer skills of 87 Pathways students through a certificate program
  • Improved performance on examinations, with several Pathways students ranking in the top ten on 2007 College examinations
