Goals
The Pathways program at the Institute of Environment and Development, also known as Fuping Development Institute, facilitates and supervises the overall implementation of China's Pathways programs and ensures the effective use of existing and potential resources available for disadvantaged students. To do this, the Institute is focused on:
- Working with participating institutions to enhance their capacity and facilitate institutional development
- Providing technical support, project monitoring, and fund management for participating institutions
- Acting as a liaison among the participating institutions, Provincial Educational Bureaus and the Ford Foundation
Target Population
Outcomes
As the facilitating Pathways organization, the Institute has:
- Developed an Experts Team to insure the quality of design, training and implementation at each Pathways site.
- Arranged a National Advisory Committee (NAC), comprised of Chinese higher-educational authority officials and experts in education, poverty reduction, and economic and social development. NAC provides general and professional guidance and quality assurance for the implementation of the Pathways program.
- Organized five information exchanges among 27 participating Pathways institutions.
- Provided seven trainings and consultations for 27 participating Pathways institutions to develop or improve their project design, management, tools and methodology.
