Goals
The University of Venda's Pathways to Higher Education program aspires to increase the number of historically marginalized students who graduate from the University. The University's Pathways program is focused on developing or improving:

• Recruitment practices and admissions policies
• Existing remedial courses with supplemental tutoring
• Resources for students studying science

Target Population
The Pathways program is helping the University reach out to historically neglected ethnic groups, like the Tsonga, Zulu and Xhosa and is providing special outreach to students from indigenous and rural communities.

Outcomes
To date, the Pathways program:

• Developed new student programs
• Improved university courses, specifically in the sciences
• Created support groups for Pathways students
• Created professional development opportunities for current faculty
