Goals
San Antonio Abad National University of Cusco's Pathways to Higher Education program aspires to improve the quality of education for traditionally marginalized students so they can succeed academically. To improve the quality of education, the University’s Pathways program is focused on developing or improving:
- Outreach, recruitment practices and admissions policies
- Tutoring and mentoring programs for Pathways students
- Remedial and supplemental courses for Pathways students
Target Population
The Pathways program has helped the University reach out to historically neglected minority and indigenous groups like the Quechua and Ayamara.
Outcomes
To date, the Pathways program:
- Improved admissions policies and practices
- Created affirmative action policies
- Supported new student organizations, including a space for folklore and native languages
- Held faculty seminars and professional development opportunities
